SMART Liposuction

You know, Smart Liposuction, I think, is the next evolution of a procedure that we've been doing for over four decades. A traditional liposuction goes well back into the last century and has had excellent results. Some of the deficiencies were, however, number one, having loose skin, and number two, that the extraction of the fat sometimes would not be uniform and leave divots and other contour abnormalities. In a conscientious effort to improve upon these results, Smart Liposuction was developed. The effects of sun, time, gravity, pregnancy, and repeated cycles of weight gain and loss play havoc on our body. Liposuction, and in particular, Smart Liposuction, is a powerful tool at eliminating these hard to get rid of fat deposits. The liposuction part of Smart Liposuction is the same surgical procedure that we've been performing for some time where fat deposits are suctioned out using tiny incisions. The first part of the process involves injecting the space where the fat is located with fluid called tumescent fluid. Next, the Smart Liposuction energy is delivered. The SmartLipo generator uses three targeted lasers with significantly greater power than some of the older models in this laser class of equipment. Areas which can be well suited for Smart Liposuction include the chin, buttock, arms, inner and outer thighs, abdomen, phalanx, and the rolls of the back. Some of the potential benefits of SmartLipo triplex include a more effective laser lipolysis or melting of the fat, a more reliable, controlled delivery of energy versus ultrasonic technologies, a reduction in liposuction treatment time and possibly less downtime, less bleeding and bruising, and in my hands, a higher definition of sculpting abilities. We usually perform our SmartLipo triplex procedures in our state of the art surgery center in South Lake. Cellulaze is an FDA approved treatment for cellulite. Cellulite, as many women know, is a very difficult problem. It is caused by an architectural pattern of the skin and superficial fat. In the past, attempts to treat cellulite with traditional liposuction often worsened the result. However, Cellulaze, because it uses laser technology and is applied directly under the skin, has the ability to reduce dimpling and can smooth out the appearance of the skin. Like all surgeries, it is very important to set the right expectation and also understand that the result can take months, if not sometimes a year, to see the final outcome. Patients who either have SmartLipo or Cellulaze will need to wear compression garments for several weeks. Patients who undergo these procedures, we have found, have a new confidence in their look, a balance to their contour, and an improved fit of their clothes.
