First and foremost, have a bag ready with all your essentials. Have a
comfortable pair of shoes that are easy to put on for the nursing staff and
for yourself. You want to bring a loose article of clothing, like a house
coat, a robe, or very lose pajamas that have zippers or buttons on the
front so that you can be dressed after surgery without moving your arms or
with minimal disturbance of dressing and drains.
Next it's important that you bring all your medication. This includes your
home prescription medications and the medications we provide, placing them
in a Ziploc bag so it will help the nurses identify the medications you are
on and which ones you need to be taking. Next we want you to bring your pre-
operative packet. It should be in a folder as such and should have
essential information about your surgery and post-operative course.
Finally, make sure that you bring your driver's license. A form of
identification is important to prove your identity prior to surgery.
