Description
Successful breast augmentation recovery means patients should closely follow the activity restrictions outlined in their pre-operative packet. Arm movement should be minimized, and arms should not be moved at the shoulders for one to two weeks. Reducing the use of chest muscles, including when you are standing up, is also important in avoiding complications and speeding up recovery.

Successful recovery after breast augmentation involves following the
activity restrictions as outlined in your pre-operative packet. It is very
important, especially in the first several days and into that second week
that you keep your arms at your side, unless instructed otherwise. You're
able to move your arms at the elbows, but not at the shoulders. If you need
to bring your hand to your mouth, like with a fork, it is done as such. If
you're trying to dry or comb your hair, it is done as such where the head
is brought back down.
When you're trying to stand up, it is very important that you do not use
your chest muscles. You can push your hands down to push yourself up to a
standing position. If you are going to cough, you can put your arms across
your chest to protect yourself. By following this protocol closely, we can
avoid bleeding and other major complications.
