I became a doctor because I wanted to help people with their medical
conditions. Though my cosmetic and esthetic practice are extremely
important to me, the opportunity to be involved with cancer reconstruction,
including breast and skin cancer reconstruction, allows me to fulfill that
goal.
We work with many dermatologists in the area and several breast surgeons in
the area in providing very important reconstructive options to these
patients undergoing very difficult situations. Women who have breast cancer
have many options in terms of their reconstruction, and it's really
important that we describe them and explain it to them during their
consultation.
First and foremost, reconstruction should fit into the more important and
broader picture of curing the patient and treating the cancer itself. We
work hand in hand with both the breast surgeon and the oncologist to ensure
that breast reconstruction is a healthy part of the process and not
something that gets in the way.
