Facelift
A facelift is a very popular cosmetic procedure that helps patients overcome a number of signs of aging. Patients can enjoy a more youthful appearance following this surgery that usually lasts just a few hours. Recovery times vary, but most patients can expect to be back at work within a week.
The medical term for a facelift is rhytidectomy. A facelift is a commonly performed procedure in the practice to address many of the signs of aging seen in our face and neck. The effects of time, gravity, and the sun conspire to increase skin laxity, decrease fat volume, and even shrink the size of our facial bones. These effects lead to the formation of jowls, sagging of the cheeks, deepening of the nasolabial folds, and the formation of platysmal bands in the neck. Once these features become established, minimally invasive treatments like fillers and skin resurfacing techniques are usually inadequate at reversing theses signs of age.
A facelift incision is designed so that it can be naturally hidden in the crease in front and continuing behind the ear. In our Keller practice, Dr. Rumalla prefers to perform a facelift procedure which involves both skin and muscle repositioning and tightening. We believe that the combined skin and muscle facelift technique lasts longer. Dr. Rumalla performs a facelift under general anesthesia at our surgery center or at the hospital. The procedure typically takes three hours when performed alone and patients are encouraged to stay overnight. Rejuvenation procedures typically performed in conjunction with a facelift are a brow lift, to correct a sagging brow, and eyelid surgery to rejuvenate your eyes. We want your look to be both refreshing and flattering. Most people are able to wear makeup in five days and can be back at a desk job in one week.
