Our Advanced Techniques Create Superior Results
Breast lift procedures are performed through different incision patterns based on breast ptosis (degree of sagging) and cosmetic goals. In general, the more significant the breast ptosis, the more complex the incision pattern will need to be. Adding breast augmentation to your treatment plan will also affect which incision Dr. Rumalla will use. Your procedure will be conducted using one of these techniques:
Donut Lift
A donut lift requires an incision around the areola. Typically, our plastic surgeon performs this incision for patients with naturally smaller breasts who have mild sagging. The incision is easily concealed around the areola, so there is minimal scarring.
Lollipop Lift
The lollipop lift (or vertical lift) makes the same incision as a donut lift, plus a vertical incision down the underside of your breast. Our plastic surgeon uses this incision type for patients with mild-to-moderate sagging who want to raise the areola, adjust its size, and tighten their breast tissue.
Anchor Lift
The anchor lift is the most complex incision type and is typically used for patients with severe sagging. Our plastic surgeon will make three incisions: one around the areola, one down the underside of the breast, and one underneath the breast crease.

Recovering From Your Breast Lift
While every patient will have a slightly different recovery process, here is what you can generally expect after your surgery:
Managing Discomfort
Swelling, bruising, and tenderness are completely normal following breast lift surgery. These effects typically peak in the first week of recovery and begin to subside after about two weeks. Dr. Rumalla can prescribe medication to help you manage discomfort.
Wearing Bandages and a Compression Bra
Your incisions will be covered by bandages before you return home from the procedure. Do not remove the dressings until Dr. Rumalla instructs you to do so. We will also provide you with a compression garment to wear around your chest. This surgical bra promotes proper healing and should be worn regularly for several weeks.
Taking Time Off
Plan for a friend or family member to drive you home after surgery and assist you around the house for a day or two. You will need to get plenty of rest and limit your movement in the first 48 hours after surgery. After that, you can begin gradually increasing your activity level. Most patients can return to work in about seven to 10 days following treatment.

When Will I See My Results?
You will be able to see a difference in the shape and tone of your breasts almost immediately after surgery. However, you need to wait for any swelling to subside before you can get a true sense of your results. Total recovery generally takes two to three months, and your changes will become more and more apparent throughout the healing process.

How long does a breast lift last?
Many patients enjoy their results for over a decade and, if no implants were placed, never require additional procedures. However, the breasts change naturally as you age, so it's hard to determine exactly how long your results will last. Factors that affect the longevity of the results include your age, weight fluctuation, hormone changes, pregnancy, and general health.
Is breast lift recovery painful?
At Tarrant Plastic Surgery, we use local anesthesia to completely numb the area. Its numbing effect will continue for some time after the procedure has ended. Most patients simply require ice packs, rest, and less than a couple of days of prescription pain medication.
When can I get back to my normal activities?
Many of our breast lift patients can work on their computer from home in just three days. They're driving in five days and taking walks around their neighborhood in 10 days. Patients can ride bikes at three weeks, run and lift light weights at four weeks, swim and perform higher intensity aerobic routines at six weeks, and play golf or tennis at eight weeks.
Can I breastfeed after a breast lift?
Most breast lift procedures are designed to preserve any future lactation function of the breast. However, a few challenges may arise. Patients may experience decreased quantity of milk, difficulty of milk letdown, or latching issues. Fortunately, many of our breast lift patients have gone on to successfully breastfeed their children.
