Types of Abdominoplasty
The waist is an area of the body that many of our Fort Worth patients are looking to improve. The tummy commonly stores extra fat. As a result, the skin in this area is more likely to become stretched as a result of weight fluctuations and aging. Fortunately, Fort Worth plastic surgeon Vishnu Rumalla can remove excess skin through mini tummy tuck, traditional tummy tuck, or extended tummy tuck surgery. Each of these types of tummy tucks has slight variations. Dr. Rumalla will recommend the most appropriate type of tummy tuck surgery based on the patient’s body type and the amount of fat and excess skin in the stomach.
Mini Tummy Tuck
The mini tummy tuck is aptly named as this procedure utilizes the smallest incision and removes the least amount of skin. The mini tummy tuck is best suited for individuals who are generally fit and have only a minimal amount of fat that is resistant to diet and exercise. By making a very small incision and removing just this minimal excess of skin during the mini tummy tuck, Dr. Rumalla is able to provide his patients with the flat stomach they desire.
Traditional Tummy Tuck
Traditionally for our patients in Fort Worth, tummy tuck surgery is performed when there is a significant amount of loose skin, skin folds, and/or fat deposits around the stomach and waist line. For these patients, a traditional tummy tuck is not a weight loss solution but it does remove a larger amount of skin and fat than the mini tummy tuck. Most patients who undergo traditional tummy tuck surgery are in good shape but have loose skin or fat as a result of weight loss or pregnancy. This procedure utilizes an incision that extends from one hip bone to the other and around the belly button. Through this incision, Dr. Rumalla can remove excess fat and skin and make any necessary manipulations to the abominable muscles to provide patients with a trimmer, tighter waist line.
Extended Tummy Tuck
The extended tummy tuck makes the greatest alterations to a patient’s waist line. During the extended tummy tuck procedure, Dr. Rumalla makes an incision that reaches from one hip bone to the other and extends behind the hips to the lower back. This procedure is ideal for patients who wish to address stubborn fat and loose skin from not only the stomach, but also the hips and lower back. By removing excess fat and skin from all of these areas, Dr. Rumalla can tone the lower body and provide patients with a more appealing, contoured figure.
